PUYALLUP — The city of Puyallup spent $1,700 to provide one-on-one training for its mayor following an April “unwelcome contact” complaint from a city employee.
The Tacoma News Tribune reported Friday that City Manager Ralph Dannenberg declined to describe the incident involving Mayor Rick Hansen beyond saying that it took place at City Hall.
Hansen said he does not know which employee made the complaint or exactly what behavior caused it.
Through a public records request, the newspaper obtained a memo from Dannenberg to Hansen that said female city employees had raised concerns about “boundary issues” and an “alleged incident of unwelcome contact that was witnessed by third parties.”
Dannenberg then said that the city will not tolerate that type of behavior.
