LYNNWOOD — Police believe racing could have contributed to a March 6 crash that killed a Sultan man on Highway 99.
John D. Lammon, 34, died at the scene after his motorcycle collided with a pickup that police said was entering the roadway. The wreck and the ensuing investigation shut down parts of the highway for several hours.
After the crash, police asked for the public’s help finding a second motorcyclist whom witnesses reported seeing in the area.
Lynnwood police have since identified and located the second motorcyclist, spokeswoman Shannon Sessions said Friday. It doesn’t appear the two motorcyclists knew each other before the crash.
“Speed was a factor in this collision, and we do suspect racing may have been involved,” she said.
The crash remained under investigation as of Friday night.
