LYNNWOOD — Racing and excessive speed were the primary causes of a March 6 fatal crash in Lynnwood, police said Friday.
The crash killed a Sultan man on Highway 99. John D. Lammon, 34, died after his motorcycle collided with a pickup that was entering the roadway.
The role of a second motorcyclist in the crash is still under investigation, Lynnwood police spokeswoman Shannon Sessions said.
Police have no plans to cite the pickup driver, Sessions said. He had looked both ways down the road, but the motorcycles were going too fast for him to see them.
“He didn’t do anything illegal,” Sessions said.
The investigation is expected to take several more weeks, she said. Lynnwood’s collision team needs to do more calculations and tests.
It doesn’t appear the two motorcyclists knew each other.
