EVERETT – Aaron Reardon was sworn in as the county’s third executive in a private ceremony just before noon Wednesday. Members of Reardon’s staff attended the swearing in, as well as Reardon’s wife, Kate, and daughter, Madeline.
The swearing-in ceremony was held in Reardon’s new office in the county administration building. It was closed to the public and the press.
Mark Funk, a spokesman for Reardon, said Reardon was given the oath of office “in case there was something that happened in the last hours.”
County councilmen Kirke Sievers and Gary Nelson will take the oath of office at 9 a.m. Monday in council chambers. Superior Court Judge Thomas J. Wynne will administer the oath.
Reardon will take the oath of office again at a ceremonial swearing-in 11 a.m. Monday at the Everett Events Center. Reardon will give an inaugural address at about 11:30 a.m.
The ceremony is open to the public.
Reardon replaces Bob Drewel, who could not run for another four years because of a term-limit law.
