Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon vetoed on Wednesday a proposal to ask voters to spend $163 million to build a new justice center. The county council voted 3-2 earlier this month to put the measure before voters in November.
“Council should winnow down its proposal and allow more public input on what residents are willing to support before sending a ballot measure to voters,” Reardon said in a news release. “This proposed tax hike is out of touch with the citizens of Snohomish County.”
