EVERETT — A Gold Bar blogger who has filed numerous recall petitions against public officials has now set her sights on Snohomish County Prosecuting Attorney Mark Roe.
Anne Block filed recall paperwork Friday with the county auditor’s office, accusing Roe of mishandling a 2009 assault case involving a child. The suspect in the case was former Gold Bar Mayor Crystal Hill, whom Roe did not charge.
At the time of the decision, Roe was a deputy prosecutor, and months away from assuming the prosecuting attorney’s job. He’s up for re-election in November. Either one of those details could nix the recall petition.
State law governing recall efforts requires well-grounded allegations of misdeeds while the person subject to the recall was in office. Also, the recall process cannot be engaged within six months of the general election. The Nov. 4 general election falls within that time frame.
Two other people in addition to Block signed the recall paperwork: Megan Anderson, of Snohomish, and former county social worker Tamara Dutton, of Bothell. Dutton is best known for her role in a Washington State Patrol investigation of Aaron Reardon, the former county executive, with whom she carried on a years-long affair. Detectives found evidence of the affair, but insufficient evidence to support charging Reardon over his use of public money.
