ARLINGTON — Reckless driving appears to be the cause of an accident that killed a 17-year-old driver in the 19700 block of Smokey Point Boulevard in Arlington Saturday night, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s department did not release the Everett youth’s name or the names of three passengers in the car.
The one-car rollover occurred just before 10 p.m. Saturday, according to reports.
Witnesses reported the driver was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic when he crossed the center line and swerved back to avoid an oncoming car, said Jan Jorgensen, sheriff’s office spokeswoman.
He lost control of the car, which left the road, hit a ditch and rolled over before striking a tree, Jorgensen said.
The passengers were not seriously injured, she said.
The sheriff’s office collision investigation unit is investigating the accident.
