REDMOND — A fire at a Puget Sound Energy substation in Redmond knocked power out for about 25,000 customers for an afternoon.
Utility spokeswoman Allison Stanford says no one was injured in the fire. The fire started about 12:30 p.m. Thursday and put up a column of smoke visible on Seattle’s east side.
The Redmond Fire Department says the fire was caused by a mineral oil from a high-voltage transformer at the facility, adding that PSE is investigating the cause of the equipment failure.
Stanford says PSE crews were able to restore power to all customers by about 3 p.m.
