Snow showers are expected to last through the day and into tonight. Officials are asking people to stay home and off the roads.
“If you don’t need to make a trip, don’t,” said Meghan Soptich, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Transportation.
Three more inches of snow could accumulate in Snohomish County today, forecasters said.
Most of the heaviest snow today is expected to the south of Everett.
Roads in King County are terrible, Soptich said.
People who need to plan afternoon commutes should start thinking early about how they’ll get home, she said.
In Snohomish County, major roads are passable but many side streets are still choked with snow.
“We’ve got all of our crews and all of our sanders working around the clock,” said Roy Scalf, the county’s director of road maintenance. “We’re trying to plow everything we possibly can while it’s still wet.”
He asked people to patient while crews work.
