MARYSVILLE — Armed robberies at a Marysville McDonald’s and a Mountlake Terrace 7-Eleven may be connected to a string of robberies in Shoreline, police said.
Robbers have struck 16 Shoreline businesses since November, most within a few blocks of each other, King County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. John Urquhart said.
Police are investigating whether the same suspect or group of suspects were involved in robberies in Marysville on March 16 and Mountlake Terrace on Jan. 28, Urquhart said.
"The same person is not doing all of these robberies, there’s no question about that," he said.
Employees at the Marysville McDonald’s gave a description of a suspect that was similar to that of a man who robbed the Shoreline McDonald’s, he said. In both McDonald’s robberies, the man forced employees into the walk-in freezer before stealing money from the store, Urquhart said.
Marysville employees described the suspect as black, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, 170 to 180 pounds, wearing black clothing and a ski mask.
In Mountlake Terrace, police say they haven’t ruled out a connection to the Shoreline robberies.
"The generic description was fairly close, but our individual was armed with a knife. In all other ones, the person was armed with a gun," Mountlake Terrace Sgt. Craig McCaul said.
Authorities do not know if there’s any connection to a robbery Thursday at Walgreens in the 16400 block of Larch Way in Lynnwood. A clerk reported that a man implied he had a gun and demanded money. The man fled with the money and sheriff’s deputies were unable to find him, said Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Jan Jorgensen.
Anyone with information about any of the robberies is asked to call police.
