EDMONDS – A rock slide near Edmonds forced Sound Transit to cancel its Sounder commuter train service between Everett and Seattle, meaning the service was unavailable for Sunday’s Seattle Seahawks game.
Sound Transit spokesman Lee Somerstein said Saturday night he did not know what caused the rock slide or when it happened, but that it blocked the tracks and would not be cleared by today.
Sounder service between the Seahawks game and Tacoma was not affected, he said. It was unclear if service on the line would be restored by Monday’s commute.
Community Transit runs hourly buses from Everett to Seattle, and agreed to station two extra southbound buses in Everett at 10:30 a.m. Sunday for the Arizona-Seattle game. But those buses would not be able to accomodate nearly as many people as the Sounder train.
