ST. PETERSBURG, Russia — Officials say a Russian naval ship accidentally shelled a village not far from St. Petersburg.
No injuries were reported in the Thursday evening incident close to the border with Finland.
Regional military prosecutor Igor Lebedev says an anti-submarine ship was doing target practice and some shells or rounds fell on houses near Pesochnoye.
The Interfax news agency says up to 14 shells from the ship may have landed off-target.
It was unclear how big the shells were or how much property damage there was.
