EVERETT — Russian biologist and snow goose expert Vasiliy Baranyuk brings his wealth of information and photographs of the birds to Friday’s meeting of the Pilchuck Audubon Society.
The migratory path of snow geese tie together Russia and the United States. Huge flocks of snow geese winter in the Skagit Valley, drawing admiring birders and others when they’re spotted near roads.
Baranyuk has been working with the Washington State Department of Wildlife on a lectured tour to foster understanding of the Wrangel Island snow geese.
The lecture is open to the public at 7 p.m. at the Everett Firefighters Hall, 2411 Hewitt Ave.
