Two scholarships for at-risk youth and drug treatment courts recently have been named after Judge Charles S. French and Judge Joseph A. Thibodeau.
The scholarships are part of the Miller Trust Fund, which was established by Blanche Miller, a retired Snohomish County Juvenile Court administrator. The money helps drug court participants pay for tuition and other costs associated with furthering their education.
Judge French, who recently died, was a strong advocate of the drug court. He took over the court in January after having served as the back-up judge for several years.
Judge Thibodeau, who retired from the bench this year, was the first juvenile drug court judge and was instrumental in creating the program.
