EVERETT — The Everett School Board on Tuesday approved an interlocal agreement with Snohomish County to help pay for improvements at Everett Memorial Stadium.
Under the agreement, Snohomish County will pay $300,000 toward improvements at the baseball field. The district, in turn, agreed to recognize the county’s sponsorship with a plaque and in promotional materials.
Improvements to the baseball field will include replacing the infield and outfield playing surfaces with synthetic turf with a crumb rubber infill, and replacing the cinder warning track with a rubberized surface. The project is scheduled to be completed by the start of the spring 2018 high school baseball season.
The $1 million project, awarded Tuesday to Premier Field Development, also is getting a boost of $300,000 from Everett AquaSox owner 7th Inning Stretch. Memorial Stadium is the Sox’s home field. The remainder will be funded by the school district’s capital projects fund.
