The last day of school for students in the Marysville School District will be July 16, under a tentative agreement reached late Wednesday night between negotiators for the district and teachers’ union.
A state-record 49-day teachers’ strike delayed the beginning of school until Oct.22.
The district was still doublechecking dates this morning. More details are expected to be available late this afternoon.
The calendar will include shortened midyear vacations and two days of Saturday school in 2004, said Judy Parker, a district spokeswoman.
Marysville’s teachers will still need to approve the calendar. The 650-member Marysville Education Association is still working without a contract, and the school calendar is usually considered a critical part of contract negotiations, along with compensation and working conditions.
