Scholarships: Washington State University has awarded scholarships to 255 students through the Regents Scholars Program. The students were nominated in their junior year by 167 high schools across the state. Local winners:

Student volunteers honored: The Human Services Council of Snohomish County recently chose the Volunteer Chore Services Program and Archbishop Thomas J. Murphy High School in Everett as the winner of the Youth Collaboration Award.
Research fellowship: Medical College of Wisconsin student Lisa Qi Wang of Everett received a 2006 summer research fellowship to study burn injuries in Milwaukee County children age 5 and younger. She presented her findings at the school’s annual student poster session in Milwaukee on Sept. 28. Wang reviewed the charts of all 313 children with burns who were evaluated at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin between Jan. 1, 2003, and Dec. 31, 2005.
