Five Archbishop Murphy music students recognized: Three students from Archbishop Thomas J. Murphy High School in Everett have been accepted to participate in the National Association for Music Education’s All-Northwest Honor Groups at the Oregon Convention Center in February. Ian McKnight was selected for band, Sara Hogenson for women’s choir and Isaac Bond for mixed choir. Michael Elledge will join 600 other outstanding student musicians accepted into the Washington Music Educators Association’s All-State Choir in Tacoma in March. Additionally, McKnight and Glade Hall will perform in Pacific Lutheran University’s Northwest High School Honor Band with 200 of the finest high school musicians from Oregon and Washington in January.
Scholarships: Students who recently received scholarships include:
Cynthia Rye, Monroe, a Jeffers Chertok Scholarship at Eastern Washington University.
Ashley Barnard, Granite Falls High School, $6,000 Crimson Regent Scholarship, Washington State University.
Spiker offered Regents: Sarah A. Spiker, a Snohomish High School senior, received a Distinguished Regents Scholarship offer worth $54,000 from Washington State University, if she chooses to attend. Sarah plans to major in political science with a minor in Chinese. She is the daughter of Lori Spiker.
Miller honor: Cadet Tyler Miller, a seventh-grader at Howe Military School in Indiana, is on the Principal’s List.
