Key Club goes to dogs: With the help of local residents, the Monroe High School Key Club, a student service organization associated with Kiwanis, raised more than $300 and contributed 470.6 pounds of dog and cat food to the Everett Animal Shelter in a pet food drive last month.

EdCC students tops: Edmonds Community College students Kimberly Morgan of Lynnwood and Craig Johnson of Bothell are among 68 of the state’s top scholars. They will receive recognition and a $750 scholarship from the Northwest Education Loan Association and KeyBank as members of the All-Washington Academic Team representing Edmonds Community College. After completing her associate of arts degree at EdCC, Morgan plans to pursue bachelor’s and master’s degrees in counseling and open her own counseling practice. Johnson began studying computer networking, and after completing his associate of arts degree, he plans to earn a bachelor’s in business administration and open his own business.

Northshore merit finalists: The National Merit Scholarship Foundation has named 10 Northshore School District seniors as National Merit Finalists. Finalists represent less than one-half of 1 percent of each state’s graduating class.
