Photo winners: Winners of The Arts Council of Snohomish County 2005 Black &White Photography Contest, sponsored by Crown Image, have been announced.
The Grand Prize winner was Kelsey Boyce, a junior at Arlington High School. Kelsey will receive a gift certificate from Crown Image.

Stanwood FBLA: Stanwood Future Business Leaders of America members competed at the 2005 FBLA State Competition recently in Spokane. Two were elected to state offices. Lauren Ayers was elected as next year’s state Parliamentarian, while Erin Evans ran a successful campaign for state public relations officer.

AAUW scholars: The Arlington-Stanwood Branch of the American Association of University Women Outstanding Female Scholars for 2005 have been announced. The high school students are:
Arlington: Mathematics scholar, Randi Richardson; science scholar, Stephanie Hardin; technology scholar, Jacqueline Hembree.
Lakewood: Mathematics scholar, Danielle Bruns; science scholar, Danielle Bruns; technology scholar Megan Carroll.
Stanwood: Mathematics scholar, Whitney Herigstad; science scholar, Caitlin Pratt; technology scholar, Lauren Ayers.
Those students will be honored at an AAUW dinner meeting in June.
April students: Harbour Pointe Middle School April Students of the Month, noted for Citizenship and Acts of Kindness, are:

Who’s Who in Montana: University of Montana-Western, Dillon, Mont., students who were selected to the 2005 edition of “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges” include Callie Freeman, Clinton; and Michelle Sullivan, Everett.
Principal earns alumni award: David Jones, principal of Eisenhower Middle School in Everett, was honored with Doane College’s Paul Kersenbrock Humanitarian Award, given to alumni of the Nebraska college who exemplify extraordinary, unselfish service to others.
Jones, who graduated from the college in 1974, was honored for founding TeenHope, an emergency overnight shelter for homeless youths based in Shoreline.
PTA winners: Paul Magnus and Debbie Hansen-Johnson, both parents and volunteers at Cascade View Elementary School in Snohomish, were honored with the school PTA’s Golden Acorn Award. They will receive a golden acorn pin and a gift certificate.
Scholarship honor: Elizabeth Purviance, a senior at Snohomish High School, was awarded a $500 scholarship from the Cascade View Elementary School PTA. The PTA gives a scholarship each year to a senior who had attended Cascade View, has a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher and volunteers, among other things. Purviance plans to attend Seattle Pacific University.
