The word from:
Granite Falls High School
“There is football. There is cross country. We just had league last weekend. This coming weekend will be districts at South Whidbey. Tiger Fest (a showcase for school clubs before Friday’s football game) is coming up, but I don’t really know a lot about it.”

Sultan starts search for new superintendent
Sultan School District is starting its search for a new superintendent and wants to hear from the community.
A search consultant and school board members plan time for public comment from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 26 in the Sultan High School commons, 13715 310th Ave. SE.
The school board earlier this year decided not to renew Superintendent Al Robinson’s contract. He will serve through the end of the school year.
No cannon for Panther football this season
The fate of a ceremonial cannon used at home football games at Snohomish High School likely won’t be decided until the end of the fall season.
Snohomish School District continues to investigate what caused the small cannon to blow up at the Oct. 6 homecoming game, seriously injuring a sophomore boy.
It’s unclear how long the lab analysis will take, although the district said it expects it to extend through the football season, spokeswoman Shannon Parthemer said.
Kamiak eager to add portable classrooms
With about 2,200 students, Kamiak High School is a full campus this fall.
School leaders expect to add six portable classrooms by January. Permits are needed from the city of Mukilteo.
The portables will be placed just southeast of the school’s commons, Principal Keith Rittel said. “They are actually closer than some of the portables already in the area,” he said.
Kamiak now has 15 full- and part-time teachers who walk from classroom to classroom because of a lack of space.
