The word from:
Snohomish High School:
“I’m just excited to be back at school. It’s my senior year. Classes are a little harder. The first day was great. Every other year was kind of fretful, but senior year is awesome.”

Reading, writing, math and weeding
Evergreen Middle School students Ysmael Abad and Garrett Johnson didn’t envision themselves pulling weeds with their principal over the summer.
But that’s what they ended up doing.
And they weren’t even in trouble.
Ysmael, 13, and Garrett, 12, spotted Principal Joyce Stewart trying to spruce up the outside of the Everett campus in late August.
They yanked dandelions and other pesky weeds with her and came back again to help spread bark.
“I just wanted to make the school look better,” said Ysmael, an eighth-grader.
“You drive by the school and you see the weeds are growing tall,” said Garrett, a seventh-grader. “It’s a real good school inside and it should look good on the outside, too.”
Stewart, who gave the boys’ certificates and recognition the first day of school, said she was impressed by their motives.
“They just felt they should do it for their school,” she said.

Marysville moves board meeting times
The Marysville School Board has changed the time of its meetings from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the first and third Monday of the month.
The decision was made in part to accommodate schedules of parents and district residents who had trouble making the earlier time, Superintendent Larry Nyland said.
Meetings will continue to be in the boardroom at district headquarters, 4220 80th St. NE.
