LYNNWOOD — City Fire Chief Scott Cockrum, who also was overseeing Fire District 1, resigned Monday.
Brad Reading, of District 1, will serve as interim chief, Lynnwood Mayor Nicola Smith said Wednesday. Cockrum will remain on family-related medical leave until mid-January.
Cockrum was 49 when he started at the city in 2014. His salary was about $140,500.
The city and the fire district have been sharing a chief as they explore a merger.
The city remains in ongoing talks with District 1 about creating an agency called a regional fire authority. The idea could go before voters in August.
Cockrum did not return phone calls Wednesday.
