Boy Scout Buckie Lauterbach, 13, of Mukilteo recently completed a volunteer project that will help him earn his Eagle Scout rank.
For years, Buckie, a member of Boy Scout Troop 228 of Snohomish, has gone camping with his family in the Mount Baker Snoqualmie National Forest. With the help of local businesses, his family, friends and fellow troop members, Buckie undertook a major reconstruction of a wheelchair-accessible nature trail near Verlot.
Buckie is an eighth-grader at Harbour Pointe Middle school in Mukilteo. He hopes to earn his Eagle rank by August, in time for his 14th birthday.
