OSO – Snohomish County Search and Rescue crews are looking for two men believed to be in trouble on Wheeler Mountain about 15 miles south and east of Oso.
A woman called 911 just before midnight Wednesday to report that her husband likely went into the remote area off the Mountain Loop Highway to check on other men working a logging concern, Snohomish County sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Brand said.
Search and Rescue volunteers were able to set out around 7 a.m. on snow mobiles to look for the men, Brand said. They now believe there are two men and one could have a head injury.
By mid-morning, officials still hadn’t made contact with the men and were being hampered by the bad weather. A sheriff’s helicopter is on standby, but cannot fly in current conditions.
