ARLINGTON — The search is off for Bella, a pet wallaby that went missing Jan. 9 along Highway 530 east of downtown Arlington. It’s been several weeks since anyone has reported a sighting, said Ray Strom, owner of the Outback Kangaroo Farm.
Bella escaped while being transferred from a cage in the back of a truck to a pen at the kangaroo farm. Strom and his wife had agreed to temporarily house Bella and two other wallabies owned by a woman in Maple Valley.
The other two wallabies have settled in well among the farm’s 42 resident kangaroos, Strom said. It’s unclear what happened to Bella. However, cold weather, unfamiliar territory and predators all would have presented dangers to the wandering wallaby.
