OREGON CITY, Ore. — Authorities say they’ve given up the search for a Milwaukie man reported missing on a camping trip to Mount Hood.
Family members said 31-year-old Gerren Kirk didn’t leave word about exactly where he planned to camp when he left Dec. 3.
Four days later his family reported him missing, and a day later authorities found his car at a campground.
A search, though, failed to turn up more clues. On Monday, KGW-TV reported that deputies formally called it off.
Family members say they didn’t know whether Kirk had enough food and supplies to stay in the woods so long. Calls to him went to voice mail.
The family members reported Kirk likes camping, but usually not alone.
