HONOLULU — The Coast Guard says it has suspended its search for a 66-year-old sailor from Seattle who left Kauai on Dec. 17 and failed to make it to Oahu the next day as planned.
The Coast Guard said Thursday airplane and helicopter crews searched more 200,000 square miles for 54 hours but failed to find Ira Foreman. The search was suspended at 7:50 p.m. on Wednesday.
Coast Guard officials launched a search plane on Sunday morning to look for Foreman and his 36-foot boat “Arcturus.”
The search began after Foreman’s wife reported him missing Saturday — six days after he was due to arrive at Keehi Lagoon on Oahu.
It’s not known why Foreman was reported missing nearly a week after he was due at Oahu.
