COUPEVILLE – Police continued to search Wednesday for a man suffering from heart problems and short-term memory loss who failed to return to his group home on Monday.
Gregory M. Haverfield, 59, may have been last seen waiting for a Seattle-bound bus in Mukilteo about 11:30 a.m. Monday, Island County sheriff’s spokeswoman Jan Smith said.
Police believe Haverfield may have tried to get to one of his former homes in Anacortes, Lake Forest Park or Seattle. They’re looking for him along the I-5 corridor between Everett and Seattle. They’re also checking hospitals and homeless shelters, Smith said.
Haverfield requires medication but doesn’t have it with him, Smith said.
He is 5 feet 9 inches tall, about 160 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He was last seen wearing a tan jacket and slacks, and a green and brown plaid long-sleeve shirt.
Anyone who has seen Haverfield is asked to call 911 or 360-679-9567.

Hepple was convicted of raping a 4-year-old girl in Pierce County in 1991. He built his relationship with his victim for two months before he raped her, Lamoureux said.
The public meeting is at 7 p.m. at the Marysville Public Safety Building at 1635 Grove St.
