ONALASKA — A quick response by about 100 searchers succeeded in finding a 2-year-old boy who wandered away from his home in Onalaska with a black Labrador puppy.
Lewis County Sheriff Steve Mansfield said the boy was reported missing Saturday evening when his father woke up from a nap.
The search involved deputies, firefighters and volunteers from the county, Mossyrock, Packwood and Toledo. A King County helicopter with an infrared detector took park.
The sheriff’s office said the boy was found by Toledo firefighters using a thermal imaging device. It detected the boy on the ground with the dog behind a residence near a creek. They were about a mile from home.
The boy who was wearing only a T-shirt and socks was not injured.
