SEATTLE — The Seattle Archdiocese has placed a Catholic priest on administrative leave after receiving an allegation that he sexually abused a minor while serving at a Lacey parish in the 1980s.
Seattle Archdiocese spokesman Greg Magnoni said Monday that the Rev. Edward Receconi may not perform public ministry while the allegation is under investigation.
Magnoni says the archdiocese learned of the alleged sexual late last week from an attorney and forwarded the complaint to police. Lacey police Sgt. Jim Mack told The Olympian newspaper his department will look into the allegations.
The 62-year-old Receconi served at the Sacred Heart Parish in Lacey from 1984 to 1986, the St. Edward Parish in Shelton from 1987 to 1993, and Holy Rosary Parish in Tacoma from 1995 to 1996.
