SEATTLE — The head of Seattle City Light is stepping down.
KING-TV reported that Jorge Carrasco is leaving as general manager and chief executive officer of City Light after leading utility for 11 years.
City Light serves more than 400,000 customers in the greater Seattle area with a staff of more than 1,800.
Carrasco was criticized last year when he asked Mayor Ed Murray for a 45 percent increase in his annual salary — from $245,000 to $364,000. He was already the city’s highest-paid employee.
Carrasco’s retirement is effective May 8. Chief Compliance Officer Jim Baggs will serve as Interim CEO.
