SEATTLE — Cautionary tales abound about what can happen when people meet strangers to buy or sell goods they’ve seen on Craigslist or similar Internet sites.
While Seattle police didn’t start the trend, they say they’re happy to host buyers and sellers in their precinct lobbies.
KING-TV reports that Sgt. Sean Whitcomb says, “There are times when ripoffs occur and people want to make sure that they’re doing everything properly and safely.”
Police recommend a daytime meeting but Whitcomb notes the lobbies are “a 24/7 operation.”
