Seattle man arrested in attack on Tulalip resident

TULALIP — A 44-year-old Seattle man was booked into the Snohomish County Jail Tuesday night on investigation of second-degree assault after he allegedly tried to slash a Tulalip tribal member with a box knife.

The suspect confronted the 26-year-old victim at 64th Avenue and Totem Beach Road, Tulalip Tribes Police Chief J.A. "Jay" Goss said Wednesday. The suspect went to the victim’s home at 6:15 p.m. and swung the knife several times at the victim, he said. The Seattle man was angry over the Tulalip man’s relationship with a woman, Goss said.

Tribal police turned the Seattle man over to deputies since he was not a tribal member.

The suspect was released from prison in January and remained under restrictions that prohibited him from leaving King County, Goss said.

Jayson L. Bodda, 25, was convicted of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl and was sentenced in 1995 to 68 months in prison. He is white, 5 feet 11 inches, 195 pounds, with hazel eyes and brown hair.

Bothell

Sex offender warning: The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office issued a warning Wednesday regarding a convicted sex offender who will live in the 11600 block of Sixth Avenue SE in the Bothell area.

Ronald Lewis Barnett was paroled in 1993 after being sentenced to 25 years in prison for first-degree statutory rape of a 5-year-old girl he knew, according to official documents, sheriff’s spokeswoman Jan Jorgensen said.

Barnett, 55, violated his parole by having ongoing contact with minors and by failing to report to his community corrections officer, and was sent back to prison to finish the remaining portion of his sentence.

He entered and completed a sex offender treatment program, but is required to register his address as a sex offender for life, Jorgensen said.

He is white, 5 feet 7 inches, 135 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair.
