A man who allegedly shot a driver who had given the man’s former girlfriend a ride to work to Bothell on Jan. 14 was charged Tuesday with first-degree assault and being a felon in possession of a gun.
Curtis Eugene Graham, 38, of Seattle was being held on $250,000 bail.
The victim dropped off the woman at her workplace in the 1900 block of 220th Street SE about 5 a.m. When Graham drove up, the woman ran for help because she knew he carried a gun, deputy prosecutor Joan Cavagnaro said.
Graham allegedly shot twice at the driver, a 45-year-old Kent man, shattering the driver’s window and then striking him in the left side. The driver managed to park his car before slumping over in his seat. The wound was not life-threatening, police said.
Cavagnaro said Graham drove away, but was arrested later that morning in Seattle. Police tested his hands to see if he had gunpowder residue on them, Cavagnaro said.
She said the defendant has an extensive criminal history, including harassment and violation of domestic violence orders. At the time of the shooting, he was being investigated for felony harassment and stalking of his ex-girlfriend in King County, Cavagnaro said.
