SEATTLE — A Seattle man has been sentenced to nearly eight years in prison for a hacking scheme that defrauded dozens of local businesses out of more than $3 million.
The U.S. attorney’s office in Seattle said 35-year-old Joshuah Allen Witt was sentenced in federal court Friday, following his guilty plea to a conspiracy charge in April. Prosecutors said that from 2008 to 2010, he and two other men hacked into computer networks, altered payroll accounts, and obtained financial information about the companies and the people who worked for them.
His co-defendants, John Earl Griffin and Brad Eugene Lowe, have been sentenced to just under eight years and six-and-a-half years, respectively.
