SEATTLE — Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn has named interim chief John Diaz as the city’s new police chief.
McGinn named Diaz Thursday at a news conference, praising him for his work on the job.
East Palo Alto, Calif., Chief Ron Davis was the other finalist.
The Seattle chief position came open when former Chief Gil Kerlikowske left the post in 2009 to serve as President Obama’s drug czar.
