SEATTLE — Parking meter rates in downtown Seattle could go up to $4 an hour under a measure approved Friday by the city council.
The current maximum is $2.50.
KING-TV reported that after a study, varying increases would go into effect next year, and future increases could go to $5 an hour.
The council rejected a suggestion from Mayor Mike McGinn to charge for parking on Sunday. Sunday parking remains free.
The parking meter rates will be in the final budget the council expects to pass before Thanksgiving.
