Seattle stabbing suspect once found incompetent

SEATTLE — The man charged with stabbing a man to death and wounding his girlfriend in Seattle on Friday spent time in a California mental hospital in 2011 after he was found incompetent to stand trial for setting a small fire near Sacramento.

The Sacramento County Superior Court judge found that Donnell D. Jackson lacked the capacity to make decision regarding anti-psychotic medication.

The Seattle Times reported Jackson spend about three months in a hospital and was placed on probation. He was sentenced last November to a 30-day jail term for violating terms of the probation.

Jackson arrived in Seattle about six months ago. Charging papers say the homeless man who said he is schizophrenic attacked the couple after the Sounders soccer game because he thought they were trying to kill him.
