A second man has admitted responsibility in a March shotgun slaying in Everett.
Aaron Markus Thompson, 23, of Everett pleaded guilty Wednesday to second-degree manslaughter in the death of Robert Sandgren, 18.
Deputy prosecutor Cindy Larsen reduced the charge from second-degree murder to manslaughter Wednesday in Snohomish County Superior Court. On Sept. 20, Judge Gerald Knight is scheduled to sentence Thompson and a second defendant, Justin Joseph Evans, 26, of Kenmore.
Thompson faces a five-year prison term. Evans also pleaded guilty to manslaughter earlier this week.
Both Thompson and Evans have agreed to testify against the third defendant, Goshua Nathaniel King, 25, of Everett. King remains charged with second-degree murder.
The shooting happened after Sandgren’s girlfriend complained that he had roughed her up, documents said. Thompson, Evans and King arrived in a car, reportedly to teach Sandgren a lesson.
Documents said that King brought a shotgun with him. Sandgren resisted and grabbed the barrel of the weapon, documents said. That’s when the weapon discharged and Sandgren was shot in the head.
