TACOMA — A man will spend up to 30 years in prison for his role in a police chase that ended in a fatal crash.
The News Tribune reported 24-year-old Anthony Hem pleaded guilty to charges including vehicular homicide and was later found guilty of second-degree murder and first-degree robbery.
Prosecutors said Hem, 26-year-old Marisa Richie and 22-year-old Pierre Jennings attacked Terry Sumey and fled in his vehicle.
They led police on a chase that ended when Hem struck a utility pole.
The fiery crash killed Richie.
Jennings was sentenced to more than 14 years in prison.
Judge Edmund Murphy noted during sentencing that Hem was previously convicted of fleeing police.
Hem said that he learned to take responsibility.
He said that when Richie’s children are older, he will explain what happened.
