50 years ago (1958)
One of the state’s longest fire department careers was coming to an end tomorrow with Frank Schroeder going on retirement from the position of chief of the Everett Fire Department. The career lasted more than 47 years.
Frauna Katherine Barcott, gowned in a sweeping, embroidered white silk organza gown with chapel train, became the bride of Ervin Nels Hoglund at a ceremony in Immaculate Conception Church Saturday morning. The bride was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Barcott Jr. and the bridegroom was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Hoglund. The Rev. John Mattie officiated at the nuptial Mass.
25 years ago (1983)
For being the first baby born in Everett in June (National Dairy Month) Erin Marie Searcy and her parents, Bill and Deena Searcy of Everett, received a bundle of dairy products and a soft, plush, stuffed toy cow from the Snohomish County Dairy Women.
Majorie Bennion, who had retired as community resource coordinator with the Mountlake Terrace Community Service Office, was honored at a retirement tea. In April she was one of the 10 employees statewide honored as Employee of the Year by the Department of Social and Health Services.
