Orville Reed Allen Orthopedic Guild members were planning for their 11th annual Fiesta at Wildwood.
Three Edmonds High School girls were declared winners of the essay contest sponsored in the South County Area by VFW Post 1040 auxiliary. The winners were Joan Clark, Claudette Rosebaugh and Carolyn Thompson. They won cash prizes and their essays would be entered in the national VFW contest.
25 years ago (1983)
David Wiggum of Everett recently graduated from the University of Washington’s School of Medicine and was to serve a three-year residency at the University of Arizona Medical Center in Tucson. He was also a grad of Mariner High School and the University of Idaho. His parents were Arnold and Irene Wiggum.
Hugh Miller of Everett, continuing his history of clutch performances on national television, rolled a 237 to beat Bob Handley by 12 pins and win the $100,000 Tucson Open on the Pro Bowlers Association tour. Miller, a 20-year-old left-hander, was a fifth-year pro.
