50 years ago (1958)
Olympic View Junior High School was presenting its annual Community Spring Music Festival at the school. Included among the groups to be heard was the Girls’ Ninth Grade Quartet, comprised of Ann Kleiva, first soprano; Helene Enge, second soprano; Charlene Conner, first alto; and Bette Ellis, second alto. Directing the evening were Lois Dexter, choral; Richard Nelson, band; and Joshua Galperin, orchestra.
Pfc. Francis Vautier, son of Mr. and Mrs. G.J. Vautier, 2317 Grand Ave., Everett, recently completed a fixed station operation and maintenance course at the Army Signal School at Fort Monmouth, N.J.
25 years ago (1983)
Named employee of the year at Everett’s Ernst Home Center was Michael Fletcher, a hardware clerk and Ernst employee since 1979. Co-workers made the selection, according to store manager Richard White.
A chance to see rare Spanish mustang horses undergoing breaking and training would be offered at the Onyalita Rancheros, near Arlington. Ranch operator Louise Husby said between 10 and 15 of the special horses, all registered stock, including a 3-week-old colt, would be at the ranch. There would also be pony rides and a small animal petting zoo.
