50 years ago (1958)
Three girls were to appear in a recital tonight in the Masonic Temple. Karen Pederson was the contralto, assisted by Sharon Kahler and Kathy Ramstad. The program was open to the public. There was no charge.
Intercity 4-H Club was presenting a dance for teenagers in Olivia Park School. Playing were the Ivy Five with intermission entertainment by Katy Starks. In the orchestra were Ken Noreen, Gary Ostlund, Bill Carboneau, Karen Tretheway, Paul Carlson and Brian Wallace.
25 years ago (1983)
This was Older Americans Month, and as part of the observance, Olympic Bank in downtown Everett was featuring in its lobby driftwood sculptures by Ruth Dirks and members of her senior center class. Later Ken Farrier and students in his wood-carving class, also from the senior center, would demonstrate their skills.
New to the Department of Fish and Wildlife was agent Frank Thomas. He would be chaperoning fish-and-game resources in the Arlington- Darrington area, replacing recently-promoted Jerry Hendricks. Thomas was an experienced agent and arrived with solid credentials in wildlife enforcement. His father, Morrie, held a similar post a number of years ago, out of the Marysville area.
