50 years ago (1958)
Art Ramstad, Everett Seagull track coach, was pleased with the times turned in by Jerry Joyce in 100 and 220 sprints this week. Joyce was Everett’s top entry in the Washington State High School track and field tournament at Pullman on Friday and Saturday.
Bob Hilse, an 11-year-old Washington School student, won a marble shoot-off from Tom Collins of Hawthorne and Don Knight of North Junior on Wednesday to earn the right to represent Old Guard Post 2100 in the VFW-sponsored state marble shoot here. He was the younger brother of Paul Hilse, former state champion and national semifinalist.
25 years ago (1983)
Everett City Council President Dale Pope last week said he would seek re-election. A retired Everett police officer, Pope had served on the council six years. His primary concern was encouraging economic growth while protecting the qualities that made Everett an excellent place to live.
Puget Sound Institute of Technology announced training courses with limited openings in the allied health careers of medical assistants and dental assistants. The Everett branch was in the Radio 123 Building, and there was a campus in Bellevue.
