50 years ago (1958)
Latest of the various clinics springing up in the area was one at 3624 Rucker Ave., scheduled to open next month. Walter R. Johnson, chiropractor, owner and operator, was moving his offices from 2918 Wetmore Ave. It was a six-room clinic of brick and concrete construction. Chet Solie was the contractor.
Four from the county were among the 215 candidates for degrees to be conferred by Pacific Lutheran College near Tacoma at annual commencement exercises. Wesley Apker, Janet Emilson and Evelyn Quaas, all of Everett, and Lavern Weber of Sultan received bachelor’s degrees.
25 years ago (1983)
Karen Preiser of Stanwood, who worked in a Marysville real estate business, was named mother of the year by the Marysville Soroptimist Club. She was nominated by her five children.
A route for a new road connecting Highway 9 and west Lake Stevens was approved by the Snohomish County Council. County engineering director Al Grieve said that it wouldn’t be ready until 1985 at the earliest. The approved route was about a mile long and roughly paralleled Vernon Road.
