50 years ago (1958)
Christine Miller was elected president of Culinary Workers and Bartenders Local 451 during balloting last night. Althea Moe was elected secretary-treasurer and executive board members named were Vi Dickinson, Fred Volstad, Lee Logan, Elof Norman and Ann Brantner. Jack Caldwell, international representative, supervised the voting.
Delores Eastman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Eastman of 1516 Lombard Ave., served as a service club hostess in Germany, receiving high commendation from the commanding officer of the group that she had been serving. She was praised for her service, resourcefulness, imagination, planning skill, organization and gracious and friendly attitude.
25 years ago (1983)
Lloyd Spence reports that the Snohomish County Amateur Golf Association’s tournament was the 52nd such event, having started in 1931 at Hillcrest (now Cedarcrest) golf Course. It was won by the Dr. Daun Sharpless.
Officers of a newly formed Venture Club and those of the sponsoring Soroptimist Club of Everett would be installed June 1 at Everett Golf and Country Club. Presidents to be seated were Paula Townsell, charter president for the Venture Club, and Linda Wright of the Soroptimist Club.
