50 years ago (1958)
A major building along downtown Monroe’s Main Street was being completely remodeled inside and out. Due to open soon as Keeches Milk Bar and Spudnut Shop, it was owned by L.A. and Eva Keech.
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 4-H representatives were attending Marketing Days in Seattle, including complimentary dinners, orientation sessions, dairy and poultry processing plant visits and more. Participating were Jeff King, Marysville; Carrol Douglas, Snohomish; Bob Sedy, Arlington; and Saundar Davenport, Stanwood.
25 years ago (1983)
An Everett woman was honored with a party fashioned after the old “This is Your Life” television program. Melissa McNall, who had given time and energy to the Everett Rock and Gem Club for 27 years and who had taught three generations of rockhounds their pebbles, was feted at a surprise party given by her daughter, Jo Ann McNall.
Chuck and Donna Kirk of Everett, both former Boeing employees, said they’d always wanted to go into business for themselves. Their answer was Mobile Mart Groceries. Housed in a converted school bus, the new store carried hot sandwiches, disposable diapers, motor oil and more anywhere in the Everett and Lynnwood area.
