50 years ago (1958)
At the regular meeting of the Snohomish County Museum and Historical Association, program chairwoman Ethel Flowers would present the Rev. M.M. Stocker. The local leader and well-known speaker would present pictures taken in the Civil War area.
An invitation was extended to the public to attend the dedication tomorrow afternoon of the new Arlington General Hospital and to inspect the structure, which was financed through the sale of $100,000 in bonds. The hospital would be administered by Mr. and Mrs. Jence Thompson.
25 years ago (1983)
Chris Chandler, one of the top prep football quarterbacks in the nation, was to play football for the University of Washington. The prep All-American from Everett High School was one of the most highly sought-after quarterbacks in the country.
Two Marysville women were “in the clover” and $10,000 richer today after becoming early big winners in the second state lottery game, the “Washington Doubler.” Janet Carabello, a Boeing worker, and Norma Sands, a mobile home park operator, were among five such winners who reported to the state Lottery Commission headquarters in Olympia on the first day of the state’s second revenue-producing lottery.
